The "Will Run for Food" 5k/1k event was on January, 20, 2018 at The Church on Rush Creek in Arlington. It was a ton of FUN. Check back for the 2019 date - around the same time in January.
The Rush Creek Compassion Center has been in operation as a ministry of The Church on Rush Creek since 2013. We house our Food Pantry, English Classes, GED Tutoring, Health & Wellness Program, After School Tutoring, Kids Hope USA, and Community Engagement. We see over 1200 people a month through our Emergency Food Services.
A program we have developed through these services is our Weekend Meal Program centered around students in our community schools. The Weekend Meal Program provides over 150 students with enough food to last them while at home from school on the weekends. These students have been identified through their school counselors, we are then told a number of bags to provide each school and we package and deliver them each week. We know that we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg of the number of students we could be assisting.
Each school year, our program costs approximately $20,000. In order for us to continue and to even grow, we need our community’s help! All proceeds through participants go towards the yearly cost of our program.
1k event starts at 8:00a, 5k event starts at 8:30a. Course will start and finish at 2350 SW Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76017. The race will be on cement through the neighborhoods behind the church.
This is a timed event with awards for each gender, age group, and overall winners. Come enjoy music and vendors before and after each race!
