The Children’s Ministry at The Church on Rush Creek serves to minister families with children between the ages of 8 weeks old-6th grade. Our goal is to partner with parents during each child’s faith journey. We firmly believe that the family is the primary place for discipleship, and so we provide resources and opportunities for spiritual growth to take place in the home.

Our Sunday morning experience is specific to each age group for their developmental stage and our adult leaders volunteer weekly to build consistent relationships with the children. The Sunday morning curriculum will include a mixture of fun, worship, and small group discussions learning about the values and beliefs of Rush Creek – that everything is about Jesus! We strive to create a positive environment that will make your child feel right at home!

Our Wednesday evening experience, called Roots, is specifically for 5th and 6th graders. It is an interactive experience where students will explore who God is, who they are, and how they can live it all out in their lives. Students will be encouraged to have fun as they deepen their relationship with God! They will also have the opportunity to apply what they've learned each week through small group discussions and peer relationships. Another fun part of the Roots program is a segment we call LifeSkills—where students will learn practical skills they'll use everyday. Your student won't want to miss it!

To attend for the first time, please simply visit one of the Check-In stations to fill out a Connection Card and then our team will help direct you to the correct location for your child. We hope to see you and your family soon!

Pathways JR!

Posted by Rush Creek Children on

We have something fun in store coming to our church in June! Starting on June 4th, the Church on Rush Creek will be beginning a new series entitled “The Higher Path.” This is based on lead pastor Russ Barksdale’s second “Pathways” devotional. It is full of amazing truths and steps to take as you continue to grow in your walk with the Lord, just like the first “Pathways” devotional the church together — it’s just that this new series happens to have a fun twist for kids!

Throughout the 6 weeks series, kids will have the chance to collect points by participating in their “Pathways Jr.” devotional. Books will be provided for free to each child 1st-6th grade on June 4th and provides a chance for them to study the same things mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, friends, etc. will be learning in the adult sermons! The junior devotionals follow the same basic principles as the adult book, but an element of fun will be added as kids collect points and move their game piece each week. That’s right, we went there! Your kid is not going to want to miss out on this fun. It’s also such a neat way for parents to talk with their kids about what God is showing them. “Faith talks” are one of the best tools for spiritual family growth, and this book should make it as easy as can be for families to have them. We can’t wait to see all God does! Get ready!

Sharing the Gospel with your child

Posted by Rush Creek Children on

With our Faith Path event "Equip: Children's Salvation" around the corner, we want to remind parents that you are the God-ordained spiritual leader of your child. That can be an intimidating thought, but God equips His followers to fulfill the tasks He puts before them. One of the most challenging questions for parents to face is "How do I know when my child is ready to become a follower of Jesus?" In Faith Flows Down, by our Family Pastor, Curt teaches that "as you love God and His commands, faith should flow out of you in the form of seized opportunities, created opportunities, and special opportunities onto your children."

We want you, as the parent, to know that salvation starts with God. He calls people to Himself whenever He chooses in any way He sees fit. For this reason parents must rely on the Holy Spirit's leadership and He will give you all you need to lead your child successfully. Ultimately, as Pastor Curt says, "The best thing parents can do to gauge the spiritual readiness of children is to draw close to God and trust the leadership of the Holy Spirit. God alone knows the heart of our kids."

At our Faith Path event, we will share with you how to guide faith talks regarding salvation with your family and go over any questions you may have. The date and time for Spring 2017 is May 22 6:30 pm. Check our Events Page for more information
