The Children’s Ministry at The Church on Rush Creek serves to minister families with children between the ages of 8 weeks old-6th grade. Our goal is to partner with parents during each child’s faith journey. We firmly believe that the family is the primary place for discipleship, and so we provide resources and opportunities for spiritual growth to take place in the home.

Our Sunday morning experience is specific to each age group for their developmental stage and our adult leaders volunteer weekly to build consistent relationships with the children. The Sunday morning curriculum will include a mixture of fun, worship, and small group discussions learning about the values and beliefs of Rush Creek – that everything is about Jesus! We strive to create a positive environment that will make your child feel right at home!

Our Wednesday evening experience, called Roots, is specifically for 5th and 6th graders. It is an interactive experience where students will explore who God is, who they are, and how they can live it all out in their lives. Students will be encouraged to have fun as they deepen their relationship with God! They will also have the opportunity to apply what they've learned each week through small group discussions and peer relationships. Another fun part of the Roots program is a segment we call LifeSkills—where students will learn practical skills they'll use everyday. Your student won't want to miss it!

To attend for the first time, please simply visit one of the Check-In stations to fill out a Connection Card and then our team will help direct you to the correct location for your child. We hope to see you and your family soon!

Spring Semester Events in Children's Ministry

Posted by Rush Creek Children on

We pray that you had a wonderful Christmas and New Years.  Our kids ministry is ready to start the new year and our team is so excited to be back.  We have a great Spring Semester ahead so be sure to follow us here and on our Facebook page to know whats going on.  Here are some events you may want to mark your calendar for:

January 21st— Equip: Children’s Salvation.  This event will be held at the Green Oaks Campus and is geared for parents of Kinder-6th graders. It is one of our most impactful equipping, and we would LOVE for you to be there! This class will help you to know when your child is ready to make the decision to follow God, how to lead them to this decision, what they really need to know, how to know if they are ready for baptism, and much more!

February 25th and May 27th- Servants Heart Training.  We believe kids serving is a huge value to them and the church.  If you are in Servants Heart or wanting to join, please join us for our trainings.  This is for all 3rd-12th graders.  See your campus children's minister for more details and information.

March 4th— Family Time Fun Night. This is an event we will held at the Green Oaks campus and is targeted for families with 3-5 year olds. We will have games, movie clips, race cars, and lots of high energy fun that will also teach families how to practically talk about faith in their home. We love this event because one of our biggest passions as a church is to help guide families on how to make faith prevalent in the home and not just rely on the church, so having a whole family there doing this hands on together is the best!

April 22nd — Parent Dedication Orientation classes. Since revamping this class a few years back, this has become a favorite of ours to put on. Any parents that are interested in being dedicated by the church on May 13th must come to this class, where we hear from Pastor Curt, Russ, Scott, and Marty about faith in the home (are you seeing a trend with our passions yet?). All campuses come together to learn about the most important tools for raising a God-loving child in a God-fearing home.”

March 30th-April 1st— Easter! One of the most amazing times each year in the life of every church. There is just so much to celebrate! We kick off the weekend with an Easter Picnic at different times and locations in the metroplex. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a beautiful day in the community with bounce houses, yummy treats, and friends. The picnics are followed up by Easter services! We always add some services on, so that means more people and more children than most days all year! So exciting for us. This is also the start of really promoting camps for us… so it is especially exciting!

If you have any questions please email us at .  We hope you are all as ready for the Spring as we are!

Christmas Faith Talk

Posted by Rush Creek Children on

This time of year is crazy, isn’t it?? There are parties, Christmas lights to look at, hot chocolate to make, and even presents to buy. During this crazy holiday season, we want to encourage you to spend some extra time talking with your kids about the meaning of Christmas. It is so easy for all of us to forget the true meaning of the season with all the busyness that Christmas brings.

We have a great resource online that is full of family faith talks for the Christmas season.

For Instance, the Christmas season is filled with wonderful wishes from family and friends. Each time you receive a special Christmas card or annual Christmas letter, take a couple of minutes to talk about the blessing that God has given you in those friends or family. Then, thank the Lord for those individuals and pray for them. Instead of throwing these beautiful pictures and thoughtful cards in the trash, put them in a special box or basket. Place the box/basket near your table. Throughout the year, pick a card as your family prays before a meal and spend some time praying for the family that sent the card.

There are many quick and easy things you can do as a family to help you remember the true meaning of Christmas, which is Jesus’ birth. As you talk with your kids about Christmas, use the hashtag, #RCKids, to share your experience on social media. We can’t wait to see what God does through your family during this Christmas season.
